    Margaret C. Scherer, a 14-year-old Orofino High School freshman, will compete for the title of Miss Teen of Idaho today through Saturday at Boise. She is the daughter of James and Rusileen Belieu of Lenore, Idaho, and Charles G. Scherer Jr. of Denver, Colo.
    The pageant winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship, merchandise awards and an expense-paid trip to the national pageant.
    Awards will be presented to the top eight merit finalists and to the outstanding candidates in each of six judging categories.
    The pageant finals will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Boise Centre Under the Grove. on 8 December 1993 at Lewiston, Nez Perce County, Idaho.

    RusileenJo (Rusty) MacDonald Scherer Belieu Fischer, 55, of Silver City, N.M., passed away Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, surrounded by her family, after a courageous two-year battle with leukemia (AML).
    There will be a graveside service at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston, where she will be interred with her parents. A memorial service was held Aug. 27, in Parma, Idaho, at Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held in New Mexico at a later date.
    Rusty was born Jan. 26, 1950, in Lewiston, to Thomas Joseph and Eileen Hubbell MacDonald. She attended Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1968.
    She attended Montana State University at Bozeman and worked at Blue Cross-Blue Shield in Colorado. In 1980, she moved back to Idaho and began classes at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, where she received her nursing (RN) degree.
    She worked as a full-time nurse for many years until an injury. At that time, she went back to LCSC and earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education.
    She taught in Lapwai for many years as a teacher's aide. Then she relocated to Parma where she taught first grade for nine years at Maxine Johnson Elementary. In 1999 she moved to Silver City, where she began teaching at Silver City schools, and then at Columbus, N.M. schools, where she taught fifth and sixth grade until she began treatment.
    Her specialty was always reading; she loved books and getting children excited about reading. Whenever she went somewhere, she always picked up books for her classroom and the kids.
    Rusty married Charles G. Scherer Jr. in September 1970. They lived in the Denver area, where they had two daughters. After their divorce, Rusty moved back to the Lewiston area.
    She met Jim Belieu in 1981 and they married in August 1985. They lived in the Lewiston and Lenore areas until their separation and later divorce in 1996.
    She was reunited with an old family friend in 1998 and after a yearlong courtship, she married the love of her life James Ross Fischer on May 29, 1999.
    Rusty enjoyed teaching and helping children, camping, being with family and her dogs, especially Princess, her Dalmatian. She enjoyed being with friends and helping others. One of her greatest joys was giving gifts to others. She was always on the lookout for little items that would make someone else happy, especially at yard sales.
    Rusty is survived by her two daughters, Margaret Scherer of Moscow, and Shannon and her husband Mark Bice of Kuna, Idaho; her husband, James Fischer of Silver City; two sisters, Yvonne Denham of Lynnwood, Wash., and Sandra Umbaugh of Apollo, Penn; James' children, Ross and Jamie Fischer, Mary and Matt Hancock, Lee and Krista Fischer and Richard (Ricky) Fischer; James' grandchildren, Patrick, Alexandra, Marie, Bin, Launa, Jace, Ricky; James' siblings, Jan Eick, Jace Fischer, Joyce Watenpaugh and Julie Hutchinson; as well as family and MANY friends in Idaho, Washington, New Mexico, Florida, Utah and California.
    She was preceded in death by her parents.
