  • Obituary*: An obituary appeared in the ARLINGTON -- Richard Huffman Fox, age 91, of Arlington, passed away peacefully, Wednesday evening, February 3, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Arlington.
    Richard was born November 12, 1918 to the late Wilbur and Mary Fox in Rawson, Ohio. He was baptized as an infant at the United Brethren Church in Rawson. On May 23, 1942, he married Neva Mae Pifer at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Arlington, and she passed away on January 10, 1996.
    Richard was taken into Good Hope Lutheran Church as an adult on May 8, 1943.
    Richard is survived by a daughter, Debby (Michael) Taylor and a son, Denis (Jenny) Fox, both of Arlington; four grandchildren, Angela (Todd) Zinsli, Grand Blanc, MI, Ryan (Cari Bowman- Fiancée) Taylor, Arlington, Jonathon (Trish) Fox, Lima, Sarah (Corey) Morgan, Lewis Center; six great-grandchildren, Elijah and Caleb Zinsli, Aaron and Addison Fox and Ryan and Joshua Morgan; a brother, Thomas (Rosemary) Fox, Arlington; and a sister, Mary Lou McMillen, Arlington.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Hinkle.
    Richard was a 1936 graduate of Rawson High School. He entered into the Military Service, July 22, 1943 in Toledo, and served in the 771st Army Air Force Base Unit. He obtained the rank of Sgt. in AAF Radio Mechanic AACS. Richard served 17 months in the South Pacific (Philippines and Green Islands) and 14 months in the General Army Navy Hospital in Hot Springs Arkansas. In the hospital, he learned two of his favorite hobbies, working with leather and making sterling silver wire and bar jewelry as part of his rehabilitation. Richard was discharged on May 4, 1947 and received medals for Meritorious Service, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Bronze Battle Star, Philippine Liberation Bronze Battle Star, Good Conduct, World War II Victory, American Campaign and a thank you letter from President Truman. Richard retired after 44 years from the Triplett Corp., Bluffton. He was a member of the Arlington V.F.W. Post #4510, where he also helped and enjoyed working at the evening bingo games.
    Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington, where visitation will take place from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2010. Rev. Steven C. Ramsey will officiate and burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery, where full military rites will be performed by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
