Cathy Elaine Sutton was born on June 11, 1966, at San Diego. She was the third of six children born to Eugene and Marilyn Sutton. When she was 8 years old, she and her family moved to Baker City where she remained throughout her life. She was a 1984 Baker High School graduate. During her high school years, Cathy participated in theater, ballet, German folk dancing, and band. She also danced for Crossroads Art Center and for Baker Valley Repertoire Players. Cathy married Conrad "Bud" Rodli on Aug. 18, 1984. Together they had three children: Victoria, Ashley, and Joshua. She had worked as a pharmacy technician at the Baker City Pill Box for the past 11 years. She loved her job and the people she worked with and served. She attended Blue Mountain Community College and Eastern Oregon University, with the intention of becoming a pharmacist. Creativity and a love for the arts ran through Cathy's veins. She played trumpet and violin, and she loved to dance. She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, and creating beautiful pictures in counted cross-stitch. Cathy's other interests included researching family history, riding horses and collecting elephants. Over the years, Cathy volunteered at Harvest Church as a Sunday school teacher, Stars sponsor and for a short time she played violin wiht the worship team. Through her cancer battle, she still did what she could to help the church by preparing Easter eggs for children's church, and by packing shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child. She was preceded in death by her sister, Becky. Survivors include her husband, Bud; daughters, Victoria and Ashley; son, Joshua; parents, Eugene and Marilyn Sutton; sister and brother-in-law, Amy and And VanGaasbeck; brother and sister-in-law, David and Brianne Sutton; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hofsess Family Foundation, which helps fund treatment for cancer patients at the Burzynski Clinic in Houston.
