He was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Mason County, the son of Ralph and Fern Everitt McCoy. He married Dorothy L. Rabbe in 1942. Mr. McCoy retired from Illinois Bell after 40 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving in World War II. He was a member of Laurel Methodist Church and Telephone Pioneers of America. Survivors: wife, Dorothy, two sons, James R. (wife, Connie) McCoy of Springfield and Randy L. (wife, Madonna) McCoy of Chatham; a daughter, Peggy A. (husband, Rusty) Smith of Peoria; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard McCoy of Chino Hills, Calif. and two sisters, Isabelle Dennis of Mason City and Annabelle McAtee of East Peoria. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, Dr. Frank Nestler officiating. Burial: Mason City Cemetery.
