    Robert was born January 19, 1991 in Portland OR. to John and Janis Casto. He graduated from High School in 2009 and then graduated from Heavy Equipment Operator’s School. Robert was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, fishing, dirt biking, snowboarding, wakeboarding, skateboarding, biking and boating. He was a loving and devoted father to Kira and a wonderful, loving son, brother and friend.

    He is survived by his parents John and Janis Casto of Eugene OR; brother Samuel Casto of Eugene OR; daughter Kira Elizabeth Yvonne Casto of Eugene OR; grandma’s Carole Lantz and Vera Casto both of Eugene OR; aunt Terry Newport of Lincoln City, OR. and uncle Rob Casto of Iowa. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the memorial trust fund for his daughter Kira Elizabeth Yvonne Casto.

  • Note: He Oregon State Police have identified Robert Lee Casto as the 22-year-old Eugene man who was killed in a motorcycle crash early Saturday morning along U.S. Forest Service Road 18, east of Fall Creek Reservoir in Lane County.
    Casto was riding his Yamaha motorcycle about 6:45 a.m. along U.S. Forest Service Road 18 near milepost 13 at a high speed when he crashed while trying to travel through a right curve.
    Casto was ejected over a 30-foot embankment after his motorcycle crossed the road, and he landed on a bedrock in a creek.
    The Lowell Rural Fire Protection District and Springfield Fire & Life Safety departments responded and Casto was transported by air ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.
    Casto, who had been wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
    Oregon State Police troopers continue to investigate the accident, which is the second fatal traffic crash in the county this weekend.

Robert married Theresa Knight, and they later divorced. He married Caroll A. Gillespie on July 5, 1974. He is survived by a daughter, Connie Peterson of Springfield; son, Robert W. “Bob” Casto (wife Andrea) of’ Cottage Grove; son, Jeff Casto (wife Traci) of Creswell; son, Brian Casto of Creswell; brother, Larry Casto of Creswell; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroll Casto and former wife Theresa. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 11, 2018 at IOOF Lorane Cemetery in Lorane, OR. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove. after 5 May 2018 Lane County, Oregon.
