    Thelma M. Spooner was born April 13, 1915, in Toledo, and raised in McMinnville She graduated from McMinnville High School and the University of Oregon and moved in 1937 to Portland, where she was a homemaker. In 1937, she married George W; he died in 1990.
    Survivors include her daughters, Karen Hartung; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her daughter Nancy J. Tenney died in 1992.

    A memorial service for Nancy Jean Tenney of Oregon City, a former employee of the U.S. government, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Our Saviour Lutheran Church.
    Mrs. Tenney died Tuesday in a Portland hospital of cancer. She was 50.
    She was born March 27, 1942, in Portland and was a lifelong resident of the city. Her maiden name was Holmes. She attended Rose City Park Grade School and graduated from Grant High School. She attended Oregon State University, where she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority.
    Mrs. Tenney worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 28 years. She also had worked in the real estate field and had worked for the Social Security Administration until her retirement because of illness in 1990.
    She is survived by her son, Peter of Oregon City; and mother, Thelma Holmes, and sister, Karen Hartung, both of Portland.
    Private entombment will be in Portland Memorial Mausoleum.
    The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to the Oregon division of the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
