  William Franklin Davis, 99, who cross the plains by wagon train to settle in Oregon, died Wednesday, June 24, at the Merlin sanitarium where he had been a patient for one day. Mr. Davis was born March 20, 1854, in Newton County, Mo. He had resided in Grants Pass for 30 years, making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Bert Havens of 701 SW Rogue River avenue.
  The deceased is survived by two daughters, Minnie Havens and Lillian Jewell, both of Grants Pass; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
  Funeral services will be held Friday, June 26, at 2 p.m., at the L.B. Hall chapel, with R.M. Beard, pastor of the First Christian church of which Mr. Davis was a member, officiating, Interment will be in Granite Hill cemetery. after 24 June 1953.
