  Gibson-Mattie Jane Gibson was born in Minnesota on March 4, 1867, and passed to her rest in Forest Grove, Ore., Sabbath evening, March 12, 1955. In 1875 she moved to Oregon where she resided in the area of Eugene for many years. On Sept 21, 1931, she was united in marriage to John M. Gibson in Eugene. Their home was maintained in this vicinity until about one year ago when they moved to Forest Grove. Sister Gibson had been an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist church, serving in many capacities in the local congregation. Left to cherish her memory in addition to her husband are six step-children: Mrs. Beatrice Emmerson, Canaga Park, Calif; Mrs. Ruth Indergard, Spokane, Wash; Mrs. Marie Argraves, College Place, Wash; Carlin Gibson, Calif; John C. Gibson, Porltand Ore; Dr. Joseph R. Gibson, Forest Grove, Ore; two foster children, Mrs. Mamie Patty and Beacher Sheridan; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted in the Eugene S.D.A. church and interment was in Cottage Grove, Ore. on Monday, 13 June 1955 College Place, Walla Walla County, Washington.

She visited many cemeteries gathering information in the process. She also worked with the production of the Crook County Historical Society's history books.
  Survivors include her sister Doris Foster Eslick of Maryland; son, Ralph Lawson Reynolds and his wife Marvis (McCoy) Reynolds of Prineville; adopted daughter, Patricia Kaye Stuart and her husband Richard of Hopland, Calif; grandchildren, Daniel Reynolds and his wife Lynda of Hood River, Susan Woodall and her husband Paul of Grainfield, Kan., Timothy Reynolds of Baker City, Kristina Juris of Prineville, James Juris of Portland, Charles Juris and his wife Lisa of Santa Rosa, Calif., 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
  She was preceded in death by her husband, two infant children, five siblings and two infant grandsons.
  At her request no services will be held. Private burial will take place at Juniper Haven Cemetery.
  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crook County Historical Society earmarked for Large Print Books or to Pioneer Memorial Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of Prineville Funeral Home. on Thursday, 25 October 2001 Prineville, Crook County, Oregon.
