    Miss Velna V. Gilliam, 76, 415 Market St. NE, a life-long resident of marion and Polk Counties, died Tuesday at her residence, a nursing home.
    A native of Falls City, she lived until coming to Salem more than 50 years ago. Miss Gilliam retired in 1956 after about 25 years of service with the State Department of Motor Vehicles, where she was department supervisor.
    No members of her immediate family survive her.
    Services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Virgil T. Golden mortuary. Interment will be at Belcrest Memorial Park.
